Modular Cloud Unveils Chopin: Transforming Web2 Apps into Celestia Rollups ✨
Modular Cloud just unveiled one of the biggest frameworks yet, Chopin, which aims to transform traditional web-apps (like the one s we use in our daily lives) into chain abstracted rollups, with Celestia underneath.
According to the post, Chopin enables developers to convert standard web applications built with technologies like Next.js into application-specific rollups. This conversion is designed to be simple, so developers don’t have to completely redesign their apps.
Here’s how Chopin works, according to the post:
Converts HTTP Requests into Blockchain Transactions: When your web app sends requests to the server, the framework turns these into blockchain transactions. This means that actions in the app are recorded onchain.
Embedded Wallets: Users don’t need additional software to interact with the chain. The framework uses a built-in wallet in the browser to handle transactions securely (Capsule Wallet).
Data Availability (DA) Layer: This is where the Chopin rollup stores the data from your web app, ensuring data verifiability through Celestia.
Why is This a Big Deal?
For End-Users: The Chopin Framework makes blockchain tech more accessible without requiring users to be aware of it. They can continue using web applications as they are, with enhanced security and decentralized benefits seamlessly integrated.
& for developers: It provides an easy way to incorporate blockchain features into existing web apps without needing to overhaul their development processes. They can use their familiar tools, libraries, and databases.
Authentication System
Modular Cloud also unveiled its opt-in authentication system on the same day, allowing users to carry their identity across applications within the Chopin ecosystem. This authentication system could enhance user experience by providing a unified identity across different apps, simplifying login processes, and potentially improving personalization.
Modular Cloud is also developing an opt-in authentication system allowing users to carry their identity across applications within the Chopin ecosystem. This feature could enhance user experience by providing a unified identity across different apps, simplifying login processes, and potentially improving personalization.
The Chopin Framework represents a significant leap toward merging traditional web2 apps with the web3 world, providing a user-friendly pathway for both developers and end-users to benefit from blockchain tech without disrupting their current workflows.
Initia Unveils Its VIP Program 🧬
Initia has announced its Vested Interest Program (VIP), which is designed to solidify INIT as the core asset across its multi-chain network. This initiative aims to foster real utility and demand for INIT by aligning economic incentives for all participants within the Initia ecosystem.
How It Works:
The VIP program features two main components: the Balance Pool and the Weight Pool, each serving distinct purposes to drive engagement and value creation.
Balance Pool: The Balance Pool rewards Minitias (a rollup launched on Initia) based on their holdings of INIT tokens. The more INIT a Minitia holds, the greater the rewards it receives. This incentivizes Minitias to create practical use cases for INIT within their chains, encouraging wider adoption and integration of the token.
Weight Pool: The Weight Pool's rewards are determined through community governance. Every two weeks, Initia L1 stakers vote on how the rewards should be distributed among the Minitias. This gauge vote system ensures that the community actively participates in recognizing and incentivizing the most impactful contributions within the network.
Token Allocation and Program Timeline:
At the network's genesis, 10% of the INIT supply is dedicated to the VIP rewards. These rewards will be distributed over the next seven years, providing a long-term incentive structure to ensure sustained engagement and growth within the ecosystem.
How Users Can Participate:
Users earn esINIT (escrowed INIT) through their activities on Minitias. There are two primary methods to unlock these rewards:
Maintaining Engagement: Users can unlock esINIT by maintaining their VIP Score, which is based on their on-chain activities over multiple epochs.
Zapping into Liquidity Positions: Users can convert esINIT into locked, staked liquidity positions on Initia L1, receiving native staking rewards and swap fees.
The VIP program's structured incentives aim to drive genuine utility and demand for INIT. VIP is a unique approach for economic alignment in multi-chain networks, ensuring that developers, users, and validators are all motivated to contribute to the ecosystem's success.
Eclipse Launches Mainnet For Developers 🌑
Eclipse just went live on mainnet for developers, allowing anyone to start building on the SVM L2.
As a reminder, Eclipse is a modular rollup that brings the Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) to Ethereum. This allows developers to build applications using Solana's tools and benefits, such as speed and performance, while still leveraging Ethereum's robust network of builders and liquidity. To learn all about Eclipse, you can check out this previous deep dive we wrote, here.
For those who’ve been on crypto Twitter throughout the past week, you may have seen a bunch of charts showcasing just how much data Eclipse was already posting on Celestia, just days after launch. Shiva has a really great TL;DR of this:
Just one day after launching mainnet for devs, Eclipse unveiled its “Total Eclipse Challenge”, where builders can compete for a $50K prize pool, by building cool apps.
& for those who’d like to stay up to date with Eclipse’s record data posting, the L2 has also been added to Celenium, the blockchain explorer for Celestia.
Movement Testnet Launch & Agglayer Integration 🚀
Movement Labs has just released their incentivized testnet, inviting participants to help build the “Parthenon”. This launch marks a significant milestone in the space, not only because Movement is one of the biggest communities in the modular space, but also because they’ll be bringing new technologies to the forefront - most notably, the MoveVM.
The Parthenon was a culmination of a 6 phase roadmap the team unveiled back in January. & now that it’s officially this is live, anyone can take part in this game-like experience.
For those who’d like to learn more, we broke down the campaign, along with how you can get started on it, here.
On the same day as this Parthenon unveiling, the team announced that they would be the first external team to connect to the Polygon agglayer.
Imagine, Move & EVM chains - both able to share liquidity and users with one another. Congrats to both teams on this huge announcement!

1st Celestia MACI Round
The first ever MACI Celestia round has just taken place!
Over the course of the following months, the DoraHacks team will be hosting several hackathons fro the Celestia community, and modular ecosystem at large.
The way this works is that TIA stakers will be able to anonymously vote (via MACI tech), for their preferred projects.
The first of several MACI Rounds for Celestia was just hosted last week, where several projects presented their solution to the community,f or their chance to earn fundng from a pool of $10K These are projects selected during Celestia's Infinite Space Bazaar Hackathon btw.
While only 7 teams presented their project to the community during this demo day, there are a total of 25 projects to vote from. For those who missed this demo day, we broke down all 7 projects for you, here 👇
